Privacy Policy
The short version
- Minti is a party game. It is not a lie detector.
- Your voice is analysed on your phone, only while you hold the button. The recording is never saved and never sent anywhere: not to us, not to Google, not to anyone.
- Players, warm-ups and scores stay on your phone. There are no accounts.
- Google services in the app show ads (AdMob), count how the app is used (Google Analytics for Firebase), report crashes (Firebase Crashlytics), deliver announcements (Firebase Cloud Messaging) and handle purchases (Google Play). In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland you decide what they may do, and you can change your mind at any time in Settings → Privacy options.
The app is published by ERISTO MARKETING BOUTIQUE SRL, Splaiul Independenței 313B, ap. 6, corp C3, parter, sector 6, 060042 Bucharest, Romania (“we”). Questions about this policy or your data: eristoapp@gmail.com.
1. The microphone and your voice
The app uses the microphone only while a player holds the Hold and speak button, only after that player has tapped I agree on the phone, and only if you have given Android the microphone permission. It never records in the background.
While you speak, the sound stays in the phone’s memory. As soon as you let go, the app turns it into about seventy numbers that describe how the voice sounds, such as rhythm, pauses, pitch and timbre, and then throws the sound away. The recording is never written to storage and never leaves the phone.
For each player who does the warm-up, the app keeps the average of those numbers from four short answers, so that it can compare later answers with how that player usually speaks. These averages cannot be turned back into sound, are not used to identify anyone and are never sent to us or to anyone else. You can delete them at any time in Settings → Players or Settings → Delete all data.
You can play without the microphone in Votes only mode.
2. What the app keeps on your phone
The following is saved only in the app’s private storage on your device, in the files state/settings.json, state/players.json, state/stats.json and state/game.json. We never receive it and it is not backed up to any server of ours:
- Settings: language, sounds and vibration, notifications on or off, the age group you picked (under 16, or 16 and over), whether Premium is active, when a party pass ends, which theme packs were bought on their own, the variant and theme pack you chose last, your best streak in Fool the app, how many games you have finished and when the app last asked Google Play to show its rating window, and a random number created on first launch that the app uses, on the device, to check that saved warm-ups belong to this installation.
- Players: the names or nicknames you type, a colour, whether each player agreed to be recorded and when, and their warm-up averages (section 1).
- Statistics: for every revealed round in which the phone placed a bet, whether the phone was right, how confident it was, whether the player had done the warm-up and how many players found the lie; and, for Fool the app, how many answers were played and how many fooled the phone. This powers the How often it’s right screen. No sound, and nothing of what anyone said.
- The game in progress: players, whose turn it is, scores, and which themes were already used.
All of it disappears when you uninstall the app, clear its data in Android settings, or use Settings → Delete all data.
3. Advertising: Google AdMob
The free version shows ads delivered by Google AdMob (Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland, for users in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland): a banner at the bottom of menu and result screens, and a full-screen ad between rounds, at most one a minute. Premium removes all ads, and so does the party pass while it lasts.
To choose, show and measure ads, the Google Mobile Ads SDK in the app processes:
| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| Advertising ID, a resettable identifier of your device | choosing ads, limiting how often you see the same ad, measurement, fraud prevention |
| Device and app information: model, Android version, language, screen, app version | showing ads that fit the device |
| IP address, from which an approximate, city-level location is derived | local relevance and the rules of each country |
| Ad events: an ad was shown, viewed, closed or tapped | measurement and billing |
If you pick under 16 when the app starts, it asks Google to treat its ad requests as coming from someone under the age of consent, which means no personalised ads.
We only see totals. Google processes this data under its own policies: the Google Privacy Policy and how Google uses information from apps that use its services. We do not sell your personal data.
4. Usage statistics and crash reports: Firebase
To understand how the game is played and to fix bugs, the app uses Google Analytics for Firebase and Firebase Crashlytics (Google Ireland Limited in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland).
Analytics receives an app instance ID (a random identifier of this installation, not of you), device and app information, an approximate country, and game events: which screens are opened, when a game starts and ends, the number of players and rounds, the variant and theme pack chosen, whether the warm-up was done, whether the phone’s bet was right, whether notifications were switched on, which purchase was made (Premium, the party pass or a theme pack, and which pack) and whether the result card was shared.
It never receives sound, the voice numbers from section 1, player names or anything anyone said.
Crashlytics receives, only when the app crashes, the error and its technical trace, the app version, and the device model and Android version.
Analytics data is kept for 14 months, crash reports for up to 90 days.
5. Your consent, and how to change it
In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, the app shows Google’s consent form the first time it starts. That one choice decides whether ads may be personalised and whether usage statistics and crash reports are collected. If you decline, you still see ads, but they are not personalised, and no statistics or crash reports are sent.
You can change your choice at any time in the app: Settings → Privacy options. Independently of the app, Android Settings → Privacy → Ads lets you reset or delete your advertising ID.
Separately from all of the above, every player agrees on the phone before their first recording, and anyone can play with votes only.
6. Notifications
If you allow notifications, the app schedules reminders on the phone itself, for example on Thursday evening and a few days before holidays. Scheduling them sends nothing anywhere.
Once you switch reminders on, the app also registers with Firebase Cloud Messaging, which gives the phone a token so that Google can deliver announcements of new theme packs. The same message goes to everyone who uses the app in a given language. It is not personalised, and we cannot link the token to you. You can switch reminders off in Settings → Notifications or in Android settings; switching them off in the app also deletes the token.
7. Purchases: Google Play
Premium (a one-time purchase), the 7-day party pass and single theme packs are bought through Google Play Billing. Google processes the payment under the Google Privacy Policy and the Google Play terms. We receive only a confirmation that the purchase is valid: order number, product and time. We never see your card or payment details.
8. Children
Minti is meant for teenagers and adults. Children can join a family game while a parent or guardian is present and in charge of the phone. The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child’s data has reached us, write to eristoapp@gmail.com and we will delete it.
9. Legal bases (GDPR)
- Consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, together with the ePrivacy rules) for reading the advertising identifier, for personalised ads, and for usage statistics and crash reports.
- Performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b)) for purchases.
- Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)) in showing non-personalised ads, preventing ad fraud and keeping the app secure, limited to what is strictly necessary.
Voice analysis happens only on your device and its results never reach us. The agreement each player gives on the phone before recording is how the game makes sure that everyone who speaks wants to play.
You can withdraw consent at any time (section 5). Withdrawing does not affect what happened before.
10. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectify and erase your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing, and to data portability. Because we hold no personal data about you:
- to erase everything the app keeps, use Settings → Delete all data, clear the app’s data or uninstall it. This also resets the analytics app instance ID;
- to stop collection from now on, withdraw your consent in Settings → Privacy options;
- for advertising or analytics data already collected, contact Google through the links in section 3, because Google processes it;
- for anything else, write to eristoapp@gmail.com.
You can also complain to a data protection authority. In Romania this is ANSPDCP, www.dataprotection.ro.
11. A game, not proof
Minti estimates a probability from a few features of the voice, for fun. It cannot tell lies from the truth with certainty, and it is not a polygraph. Do not use its results as evidence or to accuse anyone, and do not use it at work or at school.
12. Changes
If the app starts handling data differently, we will update this page and the date at the top. Changes that affect advertising consent will also appear in the consent form inside the app.
